Konami revealed some new details about Silent Hill f protagonist Hinako Shimizu. On the official Japanese website for the game, the developer described the title as a story of beautiful and horrific choices and shared a rough profile of the new Silent Hill protagonist.

Hinako is a teenage girl living in the rural Japanese town of Ebisugaoka, located in a mountain region of Japan. She is described as struggling to meet the idealized image that her parents, her friends, and society push onto her. She used to be a cheerful and lively child, but it’s apparently been a long time since she last smiled.

Her life, though dull and gray, is that of an ordinary teenager. However, her normal life is suddenly shattered when the town is surrounded in fog and undergoes a horrific and disgusting transformation. During her journey, Hinako has to face choices in order to survive, solve the mystery of the town, and to kill that which must be killed.

Furthermore, the ESRB released details about the content of the game. The board assigned it a Mature 17+ rating. The game is described as containing blood and gore, intense violence, and partial nudity. The types of enemies described by the board include humanoid monsters, mutants, and mythical creatures. The ESRB also indicated that Hinako will be using axes, crowbars, knives, and spears to defend herself and kill enemies in melee combat in Silent Hill f, and the description referenced the actions of the character and others.

Some of the gore elements were also described, with some enemy attacks being able to impale Hinako in the neck or get her face ripped apart. Additionally, it seems like there will be a character being burned alive inside a cage, as well as a woman branded by a hot iron. We already saw Hinako’s face being sliced off in the first official trailer for Silent Hill f that appeared during the March 2025 Transmission livestream.

Silent Hill f is currently in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Resident Evil Resistance

Resident Evil: Resistance developer Neobards took part in an interview where staff talked about how they came to be the developers of Resident Evil: Resistance and how they tackled making a completely original Resident Evil multiplayer experience. [Thanks, Bahamut!]

Here are the highlights:

  • Neobards itself was only established in 2017, making it a very young development studio. However, the staff themselves are quite experienced in game development. Many of the staff had already worked together with Capcom previously in various other projects and, as such, Capcom quickly gave the green light for Neobards to create an online multiplayer Resident Evil game. Soon after the studio's formation, it received the project proposal.
  • For Resident Evil: Resistance, Neobards was essentially the "developer" to Capcom's "publisher." Everything from the gameplay design, direction, visuals, and dialogue were handled by Neobards. Development began in 2017 was handled by the company's two development offices in Taipei and Suzhou, which have around 120 staff combined. While Capcom sent over a creative director to supervise, Neobards weren't particularly restricted in of creativity or design.
  • Why asynchronous multiplayer? It has all to do with the IP being handled—-Resident Evil. There's always a mastermind behind the events of the games, such as Albert Wesker or Umbrella in the early games. Furthermore, Resident Evil isn't about humans fighting other humans—-it's about humans vs zombies. As such, even if the mastermind is player-controlled, the enemies fought by the survivors are plain zombies sent out by the mastermind. The idea of the mastermind using security cameras to view the survivors was inspired by the fixed camera angles of earlier Resident Evil games, but with a more modern take.
  • Capcom sent over some key visuals, but it was Neobards who expanded upon the world of Rsident Evil, especially as it didn't want to set everything in Raccoon City. There was some crossover with Resident Evil 3 development, as concept art would be sent over to make sure they matched up.

Resident Evil 3 is available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and Resident Evil Resistance comes with it. Recently, Nikolai Zinoviev was added to the game.
