How to Get Bird and Dog in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

When going through the Underworld with Kai in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, rushing through hordes of oni and enemies to reach Lord Ura, you’ll eventually reach a roadblock. There’ll be a gigantic door neither the player or Kai can open. However, there’s a way to get through this Devil’s Bluff blockade in the game. Here’s how to get the bird and dog on your side so you can open the door and fight the Underworld boss in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

Where do I find the bird and dog in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma?

Okay, so Kai will leave your party at this point in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma and wait at the doors to Ura’s castle in Devil’s Bluff, because you need to report in when the bird and dog are with you. Now, the description Kai gives is a reference to the Journey to the West (Saiyuki) story. It mentions the monkey, which he says will be the player avatar, a dog, and a bird. The description makes it sound like he wants you to add maybe monsters to your party, like a Snow Wolf or Cluckadoodle.

What Kai is actually asking you to do is rearrange your party so Fubuki and Kurama are also there. You honestly might even already have them on hand when this happens, since you’ll be able to have six allies with you at all times at this point. If you don’t, fast travel to any town, quickly rearrange your party in the menu, then fast travel back to the new save point just outside Lord Ura’s castle in the Devil’s Bluff area to return.

Bring Fubuki and Kurama to Kai, and you’ll see a fun scene where the two comment on being included as the Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma bird and dog to break the curse, and you’ll be able to continue.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is available for the Switch, Switch 2, and PC.
