34 Final Fantasy XIV Developers Interviewed for 10th Anniversary

34 developers of Final Fantasy XIV were recently interviewed for Japanese magazine Famitsu. They were asked to share their memories of being a part of the team and playing the game over the past decade. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

The following four questions were asked to the pool of developers:

  1. Please tell us about your current or past work on Final Fantasy XIV.
  2. Of all of the Final Fantasy XIV content and parts you have worked on, which is your favorite and why?
  3. Please tell us your fondest memory with Final Fantasy XIV, either as a staff member or as a player.
  4. After reaching the 10th anniversary, what is your message to all of the Warriors of Light around the world?

Director Hitoshi Takai’s message to players included his determination to keep the game growing. He told Famitsu:

I believe that Final Fantasy XIV will continue to evolve from here on to provide enjoyment to every player…It would make me happy if you continued to play Final Fantasy XIV for the next ten years!

Lead Project Manager Nobuaki Komuto also responded to Famitsu with a favorite favorite memory. Komuto said:

The Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest is a particularly big memory for me… I heard the voices of a variety of people, and it made me realize that players were enjoying the game in a real way.

In August 2023, Square Enix celebrated the 10th anniversary of Final Fantasy XIV with numerous collaboration events and new announcements. A Final Fantasy XIV collaboration chip product with Koikeya was so popular in Japan that it is 10th anniversary memorial book was also announced to be in production.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC.
